The pull rod of the instantaneous safety clamp is connected to the wire rope of the speed limiter. Under normal circumstances, since the tension of the pull rod spring is greater than the tension of the wire rope of the speed limiter, the safety clamp is in a static state, and a constant gap (usually 2-3mm) is maintained between the wedge and the guide rail. When the elevator fails, the car drops rapidly, causing the speed limiter to operate, driving the connecting rod system, and then the wedge of the safety clamp is lifted up, clamping the car on the guide rail. Obviously, the stopping speed of this safety clamp is very fast, and the stopping distance is also very short (from the speed limiter clamping the wire rope to the safety clamp wedge clamping the guide rail, the distance between the car and the car is generally only a few centimeters to more than ten centimeters). Therefore, it is extremely easy to cause large vibrations, bumps and impacts to the car and the people or objects on board. Not only that, the damage to the guide rail is also very large, so it cannot be used for high-speed elevators, but mostly used for low-speed elevators.
