The slewing chain is installed in the curved handrail guide at the entrance or exit of the escalator. Usually, one escalator is equipped with 4 slewing chains.
The slewing chain usually includes a plurality of slewing chain units linked together. Each slewing chain unit includes a slewing chain link and a pair of rollers installed on both sides of the slewing chain link. The handrail of the escalator is supported on the rollers of the slewing chain.
The function of the slewing chain is to reduce the friction between the handrail and the escalator guide.
