The buffer is an elevator safety device that provides the last kind of safety protection. When the elevator moves upward or downward, due to wire rope breakage, traction friction, insufficient brake force, or control system failure, and exceeds the bottom or top floor of the terminal station, the buffer will act as a buffer, just like the airbag of a car, to prevent the elevator car or counterweight from directly hitting the bottom or top, protecting the safety of passengers and equipment. It is generally installed in the bottom pit of the elevator shaft, directly below the car and counterweight.
